No it says not to put clan tags on, you add those later once you're associated with a clan's passport from what I can gather.

do not sign in with a tag in your name you can add the tag by joining a clan/group -

1.make sure you are on the tab "PASSPORT"
2.on the left side under groups it says "Clans" click that.
3.then go to where it says " 1UP    [1up]    1up Clan" click 1UP.
4.(now i can't figure out how you join the clan on the urt forums so yeah someone help?) If you kno how to join the clan join the clan.
5.once you've got in the clan, go to your profile.
6.look to the right side, under your picture, and click "My user info"
7.since you are in the clan (step 4) you can go to the place next to your display name and choose your tag.   

that is my understanding..  ::) but i havent tried it since i cant do step 4..
