Dream computers? I build them all the time...
I actually suggest that individuals go to
Alienware.com and customize the most wicked PC that they would like to have. I then go to either
TigerDirect or
Newegg, order the parts, and build the PC at a fraction of the cost.
My latest build was for my step-son, and at Alienware.com the PC that he went crazy customizing would have cost $6,400... It was a bit out of his price range, so we ordered all the parts at TigerDirect and I built it. He did not have a case that had an Alien on it, but the internal components is what really counted. Oh, the final price of the $6,400 PC ended up costing $1,700, a small fraction of the original price. I also saved him some money by reusing some components like the hard drive, CD/DVD/Blueray drive, the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The rest of the components were new, and the same specifications as the Alienware components.
I built my first dream PC for myself back in 2003, and I never regretted doing so. My PC would have cost me $2,200 at Alienware.com back then, but I only purchased the internal components that I needed and built it for $788. I only replaced the motherboard, CPU, ram, power supply, and video cards, and I was satisfied with the results.
Build your own,
customize what you have, just be yourself.
