This thread scares the f*ck out of me.  The internet used to be the last truly free place to share and exchange ideas.  Once information is owned and controlled, we lose the very last hope for any kind of freedom.  Today, with large modern military might, the citizens have no chance of standing up to modern governments and defending themselves with weapons (see Iraq and Afghanistan).   The only uprisings possible must stem from ideas, information, and technology.  The only real freedom we have is through technology and information....through the internet.   Now they are trying to take that from us.  While this will certainly not be the end of the internet.  It is a very dangerous step in the wrong direction.  We lose a very real piece of freedom with this.  2+2 is about to equal 5

on another note, isn't the government trying to pass a bill that allows them to 'freely' track cel phones via gps and if i'm not mistaken they're also trying to allow cel phones that are turned on be 'used' as 'microphones' and 'realtime' cameras, basically they can activate the mic in your 'always on' cellular phone and potentially 'listen' in on private conversations, as well as 'activate' the built in camera most phones have for a 'realtime' view of your 'private' surroundings, although i hardly believe this to ever happen 'legally' but who am i to say, the CIA prob already use this method for tracking/listening/viewing people of 'interest'
