Smart Phones, I have seen them before, they are the ones always charging when not being used.
I only have a Samsung SGH T105G tracfone that has SMS messaging, calendar, alarms and speakerphone. It does not have games, gps, Internet, downloadable content, mp3 player, or camera. It is about as basic as a cell phone can get, but it does have a fourteen day battery life, which is one of the reasons for purchasing it. I spend almost $20 every 90 days to keep it active, and if it gets destroyed somehow, I will purchase another one for $9.99, no big loss.
As for privacy violations, I try and mitigate the risks by declining user license agreements when I do not agree with them. Yes, I actually read them, and they probably write them for individuals such as myself.
Disconnect from the Internet? It is almost impossible these days. If one needs to apply for a job, they point you to a computer, or tell you a website to apply for the position. There is no such thing as a paper application from what I have seen. So, if one is self employed, and does not use the Internet at all, one would still be in the system.
Stop using the Internet? That seems pretty easy to do. When one can not afford Internet, one tends to have a better family life, and more constructive hobbies. There was no Internet when I was a kid, I liked to build radio control cars, and life was good. As for completely removing oneself from the Internet, it can not happen, nothing is ever deleted, only denied access.
