What image fomats does gtk allow? i usually use jpeg, but im using small images. i cant use jpeg because of how it discolors the image. anyone know a good format that wont ruin the color?

gtk only reads jpegs and tgas. Tga's are usually very good images. I would recommend them.

Sweet, thanks. is tga normally included in paint as a saving option, or do i need to use gimp?

Tga is not in ms paint...or at least for older os's. Gimp isn't all that bad really, it just takes forever to load up. :P

But Yea I would recommend Gimp.

Maybe you can mess around with gimp, or have someone define it for you, but I'm not really good with images. Which is why I usually use zpak/google images. :P

Even so, I'm sure someone around here could help you sharpen that image up.

its a 16 by 16 image. the problem isnt the image itself, but that gtk is making it blend together

Take your picture of a mario scene off the net or screenshot a windows based mario game , Open it up in gimp.. Extract the COLOR of the square and recreate a new square 512x512... They arent exactly complex images... And save as .jpeg

If you're looking for an image creator/editor, Paint.net is another option for you.  www.getpaint.net

Note: because it relies on the .net framework, Paint.net only works with Windows operating systems.

Here is a quick try. It could use some touchup but not required. :P

Ok resized it to exactly 512x512. bleh

TGAs are tooo freakin big.. You can make high quality jpegs by not compressing, They will still be smaller than TGAs and save alot of size. Most of science was custom textures... So i had to optimize each one to get it to fit on Bot servers..
