ts3 is destructive
« on: June 21, 2012, 07:58:47 PM »
Players give away the position of their enemy to their teammates on ts3...because on certain 1up servers it is allowed to spectate the opposing team.  This is bad because it doesn't teach player to listen or strategize against their opponent.   Resulting in more players who never improve in skill.  To me that is just sad and poor sportsmanship.   There's my 10 cents.  It's silly and ridiculous.  Don't do that, it benefits no one long term only short term.    Either way I'm going to pwn you, but ya don't have to be a loser about it.  :P

I've been saying this for years, but nobody cared back then, and nobody cares now. I guess we have to accept it bourbs.

Back in my day though, before ts3, mumble, vent, roger wilco, etc, we used those strategies that you mention, but things have changed.

I guess the true problem is...is that you can actually spectate the opposing team. Now that could be fixed! :)

It might give away your location but it is a good tool for spectating hackers. Do you really want to go into spectator whenever you get killed by someone just to catch them or go incognito? It just looks fishy. I say keep it how it is.

It was never a real problem before. Like Pyrite said, no one cares.

Seriously all jokes aside. You are failing to acknowledge that the the servers that allow spectating on both sides are PUB server. Meaning you play them for fun. Those are not scrim or tourney servers. There is no need to treat PUB servers as strict as competition servers. As Redrum stated it has been like that for a while and the spectating can be used for other purposes than jsut giving away someones position. You cannot expect a 1up member to be on the servers at all times to catch hackers and not everyone can go incognito but everyone can use spectate. I could go on for a while stating reasons why spectating both sides is good and bad but by the time i'm done the list for good would be 4x larger than the list for bad.

The only thing I dont like about ts3, is that you get too distracted talking and you dont pay attention to the game :/
But I agree with bourb -_- giving away the position of the enemy isnt really helping anyone :S

Even if people are giving away positions on ts3 as long as you are listening in game like most do anyway you should hear them coming before they get to you regardless of ts3.

Yep I see how it is used to catch hackers, but it's just the same as hacking giving away positions by specing the enemy.  Just like wall hacks.

Except Wallhacks are against the rules. Communicating with your team using the tools available to you is not.
