Mouse Settings
« on: October 13, 2009, 08:17:21 PM »
Just curious what other people are using for mouse settings... learning some different things to tweak from other experienced players... This is always something I wondered about so I thought I start up a post...

For me currently:

Mouse Laser set at 2000 dpi
sensitivity 2.75 - still a little higher than I want it to be, would like to work it down to 2-2.5 hopefully - I know a lot of great players that play under 2 sensitivity
m_pitch .018 (.015 sets up/down sens to 2/3 of left/right good for headshots)

Just for fun, this is what I learned to play with for a long time
Laser at 2000 dpi
sensitivity between 8 and 9
m_pitch .022 (default)

lol if you want to know the number just bring down the console (~) and type sensitivity and hit enter, it will display yours and the default(5)... you can then set if by typing sensitivity 3 or whatever you want it to be.

Basically on urt i play with maximum sensitivity giving me more quickness to aim and jumps.

While max sens is nice for quick movement, it does hurt aim... for me learning to play with such high sensitivity meant that any little twitch on my mouse could throw my aim off by alot (especially mid to long distance) as a result I would find myself swinging my crosshair back and forth to each side of a player compensating instead of staying on the torso... the lower sensitivity takes getting used to but allows you to keep your mouse on target a bit easier...

m_pitch I'm still working on getting used to, but I think it may help me in the long run... really the best thing to do is tweak things see how they feel and go with what's comfortable...

m_pitch is a variable that sets the up/down sensitivity as a ratio of the total sensitivity... default is .022 which is a 1:1 ratio... so if your sensitivity is set to 3 and you set m_pitch to .015 it will make your up/down sensitivity 2/3 of the overall so it will be 2 while your left right remains 3... that's the simplest way to explain it... most people seem to believe that setting it with the 2/3 ratio or so makes it easier to get headshots...

Well when u play with max, u just move ur mouse in the direction u want and it does it quickly, but hey, it all depends on what sensitivity ur use too.

I use 1.0-1.5 usually, lower settings with a scoped weapon. I have an ancient optical mouse ( no laser ) so I'm am sure my DPI is terrible. This is weird because I was going to ask you this very same question last night Fedora when we were in Abbey, your aim seemed dead on, I wouldn't change a thing :)

I use a razer lachesis:

I set DPI on the fly  with 2 of the 9 buttons -

I set up a profile to customize the DPI switches to -- 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1500

It will go between 200 and 4000.

I also have a custom polling rate set at 750Khz.

My in-game sens is set to 1.4 i think. I haven't checked.

I have been messing around with it lately, and I almost have it where I want it. The acceleration is a little bit too slow, but I am trying to find the balance between shooting accuracy, and being able to snap quickly for jumps. Overall in the last week, I have substantially improved my shooting stability.

My sens is 4 but I have had it as low as 2.0 but wasn't very good for jumping so set it back up to 4 and works for me. My pitch and yaw are more than likely set at default as I haven't bothered to change them.  Mouse is a POS Logitech optical mouse (getting a razer mouse soon tho haven't decided on which one I want yet) On a side note I personally don't think that it really matters all to much what your sens is at because after awhile you will get used to it and every game is different for example in Wolfenstein ET I have my pitch set up to something like 0.12 and my sens is 1.5 and it "feels" the same to me as the 4 does on urt maybe it's just me but it works that's all I can say.

bring down console (~) and type /sensitivity (number) or /m_pitch (number)  If you want to see what they're set at, hit enter without putting a number...
