Overall we can't make the final decision so it is just a waste of time to even discuss it.

Lol.  8)

Anyhow, there's are pros and cons for being able to legally carry firearms. Of course, basically anything can be used as a weapon, so in my opinion, regulating guns, or any other kind of weapon for that matter, is pretty futile.

American citizens should have more freedom in how they defend themselves;

July 20th 2012 James Holmes kills 12 and injures 70+ at a local cinema
April 16th 2007 Seung-Hui-Cho (Korean) kills 32 in a virginia campus,
April 20th 1999 Eric Harris and Dylan Kleebold kills 13 people at another high school in america

The laws need to change or this will continue

We recently, in Indianapolis had a gunman come into a Kroger threatening lives. An employee was carrying a gun and shot him down.  How many lives did he save? You cant say cause you don't know how many lives someone could save until after you get a dead body count...

CO allows carry conceal permits, however many establishments prohibit firearms inside, and nowhere alcohol is served. Many theatres here now have bars as well which means no guns allowed.

Bars in move theaters? That's kind of cool. I wonder how much beer costs if movie theaters already charge $6 for ice with a little bit of soda.

I don't know the cost, but the last couple of movies I saw this year were at theatres that had just pit in bars. Probably $10 per beer or small drink.

Colleges have case studies all the time. An unemployed college student would volunteer to be a part of an experiment especially if money was offered. It just seems like something the government would do to get what they want.

I'm not into conspiracies in the least, but as soon as I heard about the shooting, I couldn't help but think about the UN gun ban.  What better way to get the weak-minded public on board with the ban than to orchestrate an incident?  It's probably just a sad coincidence, but who knows?  The Obama administration (along with officials from several other countries) have been working on the details of this ban behind closed doors for months.  Fear being to motivator that it is, many people won't care about the details of the ban.  They'll just want it to be implemented so they can feel "safe" again.

Just wait.  When this ban is finally revealed and brought for a vote, Obama and others will site this Colorado shooting and others like it as reasons that necessitates this ban.

I am not against guns but I am against assault rifles being legal. I think Jason sums it up nicely for me:

Fun fact: most assault rifles are actually far LESS lethal than the average hunting rifle.  As a matter of fact, when you boil it all down, all an "assault rifle" really is is a semi-automatic rifle with a few minor tactical design changes.  The ammunition fired through "assault rifles" are typically either 5.56 or 7.62.  Compare that to most semi-auto hunting rifles. 30-06, .300, .50, etc.  Hunting rifles are not only more accurate than most "assault rifles".  They also employ far more powerful and lethal ammunition.

The only real advantage to having an "assault rifle" over a good hunting rifle, shotgun, or even a handgun when it comes destruction in a crowd would be full auto.  However, full auto guns are very hard to come by.  Homemade full-auto conversions rarely actually work, and often actually harm the shooter.  The law allows for ownership of a fully automatic gun, but with several restrictions.  The only full-auto guns allowed for civilian ownership are produced before 1986.  The least expensive full-autos are guns in the mac10/mac11 family.  Even a mac11 (9mm) costs upwards of $3500 nowadays.  In order to buy such a gun, you first must find one.  Then you must apply for a class 3 firearms liscense.  The application process takes several months, is very strict, and costs $120 iirc.

The bottom line is that a full auto is actually pointless and inneffective, EXCEPT for situations like this.  But in all reality, what psycho could afford $3500-4500 AND pass a full background check AND obtain a liscense AND wait upwards of 6months, all to perpetrate their crime with a glorified 600rpm handgun that fires 9mm and has almost zero accuracy?

well really if a psycho is planning to do this he just needs credit cards or some college grants or a refi on his house etc to acquire the funds not like he has to worry about paying it back.
