No I said I was done arguing with people who are too stubborn to accept an alternate solution to the problem. In more or less words of course.

What "alternate solution" are you offering?  The only "solution" I've seen you present is that we should "outlaw guns".  How is that a solution?  CRIMINALS will NEVER surrender their guns, so this so-called "solution" would literally only serve to disarm law-abiding citizens.  I don't understand how anyone could not see that telling a law-breaker not to break the law is completely pointless.  Your "solution" would actually exponentially increase the problem.

The ban would have to be UPHELD in order for it to work. You really think people would be as open about owning firearms or would go on sprees more because of a ban? Really? I think criminals are smarter than that. If they do go off and do something stupid law enforcement finds them and takes them to jail and confiscates the firearm. Less people get hurt in the long run and more guns eventually get off the streets, it's not an overnight solution.

Carrying a firearm is illegal in Chicago.  Now research gun-related crime in that city.  Off the charts.  Criminals by definition don't care about the law.  You would be shocked at the number of FELONS that posses a firearm.  There are only so many cops.  The lions share of criminals still remain on the streets.  How would your imaginary scenario change this fact?

Across the board a percentage of law abiding carriers who have their guns stripped will die to criminals who didnt have their guns stripped because.. Oh yeah the gun was purchased on the black market. Of course banning guns will reduce the number of guns in america.. Probably down to about the number there currently are in criminal hands.. and its not like 1 by 1 the guns are taken off the streets by arrest. They will be smuggled in just like drugs.. Hell criminals will surely realize the value of a gun in a society not allowed to protect themselves. The number in criminal hands could increase..

So RedRum, what you're saying is that guns should be illegal, with the knowledge that criminals won't give up their guns.  But you're saying that there won't be any gun crime because the criminals wont want to risk having their illegal guns taken away, right?  Criminals will never perpetrate a crime against law-abiding citizens with a firearm because they won't want to get caught, right?  Law-abiding citizens will never have the need to defend themselves because the criminals will stop trying to rob, rape, maim or kill them with a firearm if guns are illegal, right?  The criminals and the cops will be the only ones with guns, but the criminals will never use them, right?
