Windows is good but only because everything is developed for it. Ya know? I'd run Linux if everything could be ran on it. (without wine VMware etc) or osx if everything was written for it and it supported my hardware.

Same here. I used Linux for awhile but I couldn't ever get Wine to work for any of the games I wanted to play. So I'm back to windows.

I use Linux at home with a VM that I fire up Windows in about once per year when I need a specific app. Same at work. IBM is making a huge push to get people onto Linux or even Mac and off Windows. Windows is mainly being pushed to VMs to use to access specific customer accounts that have Win only apps.

Windows : Good for word processing, gaming, and loads of other programs...monopoly
Mac: Video/Sound editing
Linux - Servers, Programming

thats the breakdown....i have realized that in the end none is better than the other. it all just depends on what you want to do.

Also, installed PC-BSD (BSD Unix) flavor) in a VM the other day. Really impressed with it so far, though most Linux distros still have easier (wouldn't say better) software management.

I believe this is a more accurate image.

I own a mac and I don't understand the hype about how osx is better for video/sound/picture editing or vfx.  Sure you have imovie, garage band and final cut pro on a mac.  But equally comparable is widows movie maker, fruity loops, and ... well any other editing software.  The mac exclusive software is often lacking some features of it's competitors or multi platform alternatives.

One thing apple is very good at is marketing cool (at least in the states) and making simple wireless connectivity between apple products.  The macpro mobos are also pretty crazy and you can often get them for less than the equivalent skulltrail, granted its been a while since I have looked for dual socket desktop mobos.

You could never, EVER catch a virus on an apple! But people can still afford a doctor if they bought a PC.
