How odd...

Why would you insult this guy for his English when you could just as easily have said "Sorry, but you have to be a member. We highly encourage and appreciate community involvement. If you see 1up server violations please help us keep a clean server by posting them here http://www.1upclan.info/forum/index.php?board=27.0."

Seems to me this could have been an opportunity to have an active member do positive things for this community. Not sure if I simply don't see your greater vision Evil or if you are deficient in both tact and social graces.   I know if I was this poster I would probably avoid these forums and similarly find another place to play.


Here is something to think about...

As I write this there are over 1000 active servers and probably under 200 players playing them. Wow, more servers than players! It is easier to groom a regular player than it is to find a new one. 1up has the talent, creativity, resources and infrastructure to have very populated and admired servers... I would put a little more thought into thinking of ways not to **** that up.

He probably will never join 1up because he said directly in his application, "I thought I was joining a Urban Terror Clan, not a Multi-Gaming Clan."

Yeah... I was just looking for a fun urt clan and have no real interest in other games.   While I am certain that this steam requirement was not in existence at the time of my application, I can fully understand and appreciate a recent change in 1up clans plans for its future.  Urt is definitely a dying game so migrating towards other games is probably a very healthy decision for the longevity of this clan.  I considered simply creating a steam account that I would never use but soon realized that it might just be mutually beneficial to have this application rejected if I do not share a desire for the same migratory end. While today it might simply be that I need a steam account, tomorrow might require apb and then killing floor.... I will not make a steam account.

I do enjoy playing urt with you guys and will not be a stranger upon this applications rejection. Sorry for wasting your time, I thought I was applying to an urban terror clan.

True it is unlikely he will join ours, or for that matter any, clan. But he would be a great addition here and I think fit in pretty well. We can hope he will reconsider. I mean let's face it, you can try all you want to avoid it but at the end of the day it's 1up or shutup!

Honestly lucky should have just made the steam account that he never would have used. His playing urt would have been enough to easily get in the clan. You dont have to play any steam games, 1up just wants your name on the steam roster. Or thats how I saw it.

Does it matter? We should be encouraging potential members, not shut them  down for possible errors in text. No one in 1up is perfect (some may argue with that statement). Ece is not familiar with the guidelines to be a 1up member or how to become a member with advanced privileges. Instead of mocking him the straightforward action should be to just let him know his mistake. Plain and simple.

plus there is too much info on here to not know something. If they just dont bother to read the rules and things regarding joining, thats just stupidity. When knowledge is readily accessible ignorance can not be claimed

I am not going to start a debate, but my point is this. Some people require guidance to gain knowledge. They may not be equally as understanding as those who have experience with rules, regulations, or other topics. Therefore, we must educate them.

It's why most of us go to school in the first place.
