Circle Jumping Guide

What is "Circle Jumping"?

Circle jumping is a jumping technique that allows you to gain speed. The downside is the awkward stances, you wont be facing forward a lot so this will affect your aim.

How do i Circle Jump?

Well first of all you need to break the habit of bunny hopping. Bunny hopping is a jumping "technique" in which you sprint and jump while facing forward. To circle jump all you need to do is slightly turn your mouse mid air before you jump again, Please refer to the picture below.

Now in order to gain speed your jump has to be a fluent motion. You need to hold forward and sprint, as you do so swing your mouse in 1 direction at a steady angle.

I thought circle jumping was:

1. Run forward, get at least 2-3 steps in
2. Turn your mouse and as you jump turn your mouse slowly the other way WHILE strafing in the opposite direction of your mouse
3. Land and be happy.

no Aftermath has it right, just needs a little better description. You can find most articles out there already written. If you have additional tips to add the the numerous tutorials already out there, then just post the link, and add your additional info/better way to  describe the move or tactic.

Here is a good article on the subject: http://dailynade.com/jumping-basics-the-circle-jump/

excellent info. The only thing I would change is the "sprinting straight forward to gain speed". If you've ever played IcyJumps, you actually have to sprint in an arch pattern to gain enough speed to slide, or correctly start the circle jump. As for the strafe jumping, I suxors at it, no matter how much I've tried.  ;)

Wouldnt that be a problem with circle jumping itself, instead of the tutorial?

It's extremely hard to hit someone going more than 600 units per second, even if they're facing you with their back. The other day I tried playing on WTF's pro CTF server (I was mostly used as cannon fodder) and I saw some people achieving insane speeds while circle jumping. Forget hitting that with any gun. They have the kind of players that go 1000mph past the corner where you're hiding on Riyadh, power slide, turn around, and kill you with two perfect AK shots as you empty your entire magazine into them without hitting ONCE ;p
