I want to start mapping? HELP!!!

I want to start mapping and i was looking for a good program that i can use on mac?
GTKradiant and NetRadiant don't work so if anyone has any other programs that would
be awesome.

Depends on what mac you have, Now soldier do you have a PPC Mac (You rule) or do you have an Intel mac (Very lame)

Well I don't know too much about what program you should get. But if you need a teacher, flame[1up] would probably be excites to help, he loves teaching mapping. Biohazard and SnKTank are also very good, but I'm not sure either of them would have the time to teach you

That's how I learned everything I know! there are plenty of great tutorials out there that teach everything from basic brush manipulation tactics to level design theory. However, developing a few tricks of your own will help set you apart in the long run.

I never have much luck with gtk on google. i tried to learn the func_train entity from google, and i just got a bunch of really crappy explanations

Before you learn mapping, You need to learn Google.

google is  hard to use. I just found out you can do something like

"reminds me of (+urbanterror +1up -dfe OR +metallica)"

Don't mean to say this in a rude way but everyone should be quiet till we see what mac he has and what OS he is running on coz he might either need Macradiant or some other radiant, Mac radiant works on ppc but not well on Intel based macs but then it all comes down to the OS coz it dont like running on anything past OS 10.4.11 which is what im on.

LOL thx Casper but i wont be able to teach for 10-12 days =] and i will also need to wait for what mac he uses like Dougy said =]

but if you need a temp teacher i think Casper should do it

He knows about everything i do and is doing a great job at mapping I would ask him

He's nice
a great texturist
shows you pictures of what he means and explains into detail
knows how to make and use custom textures
knows how to make a shader
and soon even maybe learn how to make a .md3 for a map

you guys do realise macradiant is totally different to GTK RIGht?
