A question regarding signatures.
My profile stated that signatures need to be 500x150 in size, now does this include text?

been messing around with slightly better quality freeware photo editing and made a new sig for my 1up time. this is not finished but its all i have time to work with until i go to work. eventually i will be editing the letters a bit and adding some sort of filter on the picture as a whole. im thinking a light film grain filter to make it look like an old zombie movie kinda.

so in order, source photos
then un filtered
then put through a couple custom filters

guess i gotta download a photoshop program now because it seems thats one of the better ways to add a film grain....meh.....i hate photoshop

I do not hate PhotoShop, but I am more familiar with the GIMP, and anything that can be accomplished in PhotoShop, I can do in the GIMP. I am in no way stating that GIMP is better than PhotoShop, but rather I am more proficient with the GIMP compared to PhotoShop. I can use PhotoShop, as well as Inkscape tutorials and create the images using the GIMP. I have learned the tools of the application and know how to get the desired effects that are in those tutorials, so it is just me knowing how to get the most out of the application.

I could say that Microsoft Paint is crappy BUT, have you seen what people can do with it?

This is why you can say that it is the artist with the application that is good, and not the application itself. I think I am ok with GIMP, as for Microsoft Paint? I truly suck with it, and those Microsoft Paint individuals I linked videos to, as well as numerous others I have seen, it is the artist, and not the application that makes great works.

The reason for me posting is that my question is still unresolved from my last posting here in the signature thread.

I am not trying to be the forum police, but where does it state that stacking more than one signature that are 500x150 or bigger is authorized?

So 500x150 is the limit of images for signature size, and does not state if that included text or not. I was only asking if that included text above or below such images of 500x150 pixels. If one wanted a signature with only text, I noticed that 500 characters is allowed, but as I mentioned, it does not state if images and text together need to be within the 500x150 allotted image space.

So, the question remains unanswered.

Attached is an image that is 500x150 pixels, the size of which signature images should not be larger than. Besides, it is a self promotion of me making a sig.

i used paint.net which is alot like MS Paint, but it has alot more options for special effects and the like. not nearly as strong as photoshop though. i will have to check out gimp though and give that a shot. see how that goes

I will not say gimp is easy, nor will I say it is hard, but if you can follow step-by-step instructions your results could be a beginning to a long lasting relationship with the GIMP. After many years, I have gathered quite a few links for tutorials using the GIMP. Feel free to check them out, try them out, and have fun.

Since my last post here is the signature thread I have created about 60 signatures which individuals can use as backgrounds for their own signatures. I will post a link as soon as I have a web page gallery up of them.

I was going to make a separate topic for the issue of signatures, but since this thread is dedicated to signatures I'll post here.

(I have received 2 PMs about the nuisance of exceedingly large signatures)

I'm here to ask people that are trying to work around or have big signatures to change your signatures to the regulated size. If I see signatures, like dynasty's, that are just obnoxiously big I'm going to remove them or resize them myself and after so many resizes I am going to save myself the trouble and just remove them.

i personally dont care about sig sizes, but there is a limit where if everyone has a large one, it makes it so i have to scoll down alot more to get past them and this annoys me, lol

Tbh dynasty your signature takes up a "post" worth of space almost.
