This game features violence and blood, not to mention decapitation and you're worried about a few cuss words?

Agreed, however, there is a time and a place for everything.  Filter yourself.  I don't feel that language (cussing, etc) should be a concern, but please be considerate of others when discussing certain things of a sexual nature.  Nova doesn't need to hear all that.  Neither do some of the females here.  Some things are just plain inappropriate when discussed in the company of the extremely young or those of the opposite sex.

Also, to those who may be offended when such things are being discussed, remember that we have numerous Mumble channels.  If its too much for you, switch.  Its easier for the few who accidentally hear and are offended to move than for the majority who are talking to censor themselves.

EVERYONE needs to at least try to be considerate of others.  Not everything offensive can or should be stopped.  But where possible, be careful.

I think its a pretty strait-forward thing here. . . Use your best judgment. I talk differently in the presence of my nephews as I do, say... around their parents?  The same applies anywhere.

When Nova and the kids are in channel, I try my best to watch my mouth.  Simply, if I think you're post-pubescent, I'm going to talk about anything I feel like talking about until Ron and the powers that be tell me to do other-wise.  i.e. poop, genitals, sex, and the rest of my conversational repertoire  of which are  not even close to maturity level of decapitation and killing people with guns.

just my $0.02

An 18+ channel would only further their feelings of segregation/isolation.  That's messed up, you may as well just kick them out.  Maybe just some sort of marker on their name so we know? That would be useful. .

Totally agree with Gemma here, i may not be IN the clan but i spend all my UrT hours at your mumble (good times btw) and well, i guess its up to us old people ( I JUST TURNED 18 years old 10....ahem, 10 years ago... damn, where is my walking stick xD) to use our judgment specially when it promotes getting together with people of all ages and making new friends which makes playing UrT all that much awesome.

One question tho, Stella, is this because of our talk about you raping Justine Beiber  ;) ?  If so, i understand and i wont bring the subject again heheh.

I still think the >17 or >18 tag would be useful.  A lot of the time, especially for us guys that haven't been around that long, its difficult to know who is of age, and who is not, unless they actually talk, and then I'm like 'WOAH I'm a jerk..' By that time its too late, and then of coarse, its PG rated from there out.  I've got NO problem with that AT ALL.  I just wish I could stop myself a little sooner.

Maddog mentioned something about illicit content being used around females.  Thats a little difficult as well.  I know for a fact that bourbon isn't offended by... well..  Anything at all. (or, is she?) But then, clearly, others are.. So where do we draw the line?  How do we know what to say and when?  Are we to start censoring the forums as well?  I'm all down to make a conscious effort to filter myself, but I need to know when.  If its 100% PG 100% of the time, I'm going to get a little bored.  (no more 'she said' jokes?  c'mon!)

The last topic before I run out of coffee is the enforcement thing.  I mean, yeah some of us can make a good effort to tone it down, if we know its necessary, but what happens when someone doesn't?  At a certain point, it should be the adult's responsibility, collectively, to say something: "dude, *ahem* kids, bro, kids".  Should suffice, but if it doesn't, I personally don't want to see it escalate to 'DUDE SHUT-UP,'  After a warning and some indication of acknowledgment, they should probably just be muted.

Oh & edit: When it comes to Justin Beiber, sorry.. Hats off.. Its gonna get ugly with ol' gemma..

I think that the room 17 + is a bad idea, the clan should not be divided into categories, the clan should be united. this room would isolate the younger members and they would feel excluded

agreed.  Clearly some kind of solution should be found though..

Again, just my opinion.  Who am I anyways?

+1 for the all be united part :)

What you need to understand, and all of you for the matter, we took into consideration Nova's age when he joined the clan, others as well, which is why we required that his PARENTS SIGN A CONSENT FORM! They signed a consent form saying that they consent to the exposure that their child may or may not receive as a result of being in 1up. This covers the language issue. So if his parents think it is alright for him to be exposed to us and participate, then may be things aren't as bad as you are making them out to be. Yes, restrain is a good thing though!

i just wanted 2 say something about mumble talking.
well i really dont like people talking vulgar nd trash...nd i dont like when certain people talk about dick sexuality nd masturbation in front of nova...he is just 11 years old. ok people are mature in usa in a young age, but i think there should b a limit. if my son or doughter will b here i'll never let them listen those inappropriate things. I feel embarrassed and out of place in front of certain subjects and certain ways of speaking. I would like to not be considered a moralist, but I think if certain words are censored in the game server such words should not be mentioned so excessively in mumble. I just want to know if there are rules concerning the words that can be said to mumble.   :-\

You do realize you just posted those words on the forums for EVERYONE to see right?  :P

Well its not like any1 was being stopped from saying them in vent wich makes it a none problem till its adressed so saying it here wouldnt really be that bad Aye? :)

(no more 'she said' jokes?  c'mon!)

The point I was trying to make is that we need to use some common sense.  If a woman is around, I generally limit my language and topic of discussion until I can tell if they're easily offended or not.  You mentioned my wife.  She doesn't care, and in fact PARTICIPATES in "adult" discussions that happen on Mumble.  She should be viewed by all as the exception to the rule.  Most women aren't like that.

As for Nova, I'm not ever concerned about the language issue (cussing), but there are certain topics of discussion that should be avoided when possible if he's around.

All I'm saying is use some discretion, and if you hear something that you don't feel is appropriate for someone present to listen to, suggest that the discussion be waited on until that person leaves.

As I said before, the offended parties can always switch channels as well.  Be respectful.  Respect here needs to be MUTUAL.

lol shadow, I've honestly been trying to put the reigns on my sailor's mouth.  I get around the boys and I just can't help myself sometimes. My memory isn't always top-notch.
