In the mean-time, if you're going to run it that way, you might wanna get some thicker oil.  I'd go 10/40, or even strait 50.

A coolant additive would protect the engine much better than switching to thicker oil (not that thicker oil is bad).  Check out Red Line's "Water Wetter" or Royal Purple's "Purple Ice".  Each of these additives greatly increase the ability of the system to conduct heat by reducing the surface tension of the coolant.  With a partially clogged system and/or an inefficient radiator, such additives are not really optional.  They're necessary.

Ya I got some Purple Ice already that's what was in it before. I'm just not sure what I should use to add to it. I'm going to try and get some more of it tho.

This stuff:

I know its a generic looking label, but It's worked wonders for me on all the company vehicles.

I drive a '97 Jeep Cherokee with a straight six and 158,000 miles. Paid 3k, got a free fridge with the deal. The thing is a beast, although the trans is starting to slip.

That's a hell of a torquey, reliable engine.  I quarter-throttled my buddy's Cherokee around a turn and spun the tires.  Crazy low-end.

The 4ltr?  Hell yeah, one of my all-time favorite motors ever built.
Maddog and I often talk about this truck:

and how fun it would be to turn it into a real 'baja machine'.   Maddog has different ideas I think.

That is a clean jeep! Yeah the 4.0 is a tank, will run forever as long as you take care of it. Its a good thing the trans are cheap and plentiful, because I am going to need one by summer. I do love my jeep though, best $3k I ever spent.

I hope you don't mind, but I edited the poll to reflect my love of jeep.

The most important thing about those 4ltrs is routine maintenance.  Not oil changes, but water-pump, timing chain and stuff.  DO NOT let the water pump go out, I've never seen a motor fry faster than this thing without one.

Nope, not yet. Like I said it may and probably will be a while.
