Read the reviews on the BFG AT T/A KO tires at tire rack.  People across the country have great experiences with them, especially in terms of longevity.  Just sayin...

Oh I'm sure they're great for 85% of the country.  I've had two sets of them and really they were great wheels for almost everything until I wanted to go out 4wheeling.  The clay in this country just clogs them to the point that they are like racing slicks.  For slick-rock climbing these are probably the best tire on the market.  For me, they were a bad idea.  I often drive upwards of 70 miles a day on the highway which just seems to melt them away.  Thats why I say, 'keep work and play separate.'  I've often considered having two separate sets of wheels.  One to work with, and the other id put on when I wanted to play.

Chains are a huge pain.  For me, I don't drive on ice unless I absolutely HAVE to, which.. I generally don't.  I'll take my wife's awd legacy for that.  Trucks scare me on ice.

I personally trust long wheelbase 2wd trucks in the winter far more than fwd cars.  Short rwd trucks suck though.  They fishtail far too easily.

Term, BFG Load E All Terrains or Mud Terrains are probably your best bet on tires.  Do what you want to as far as wheels go.  I'd go with 16" if I were you, but in the end, it's your truck, not mine.  As long as you like it, it's all good.  Just be aware of the pros and cons of each setup before you buy.

I've never actually tried driving a longbed on ice.  I generally just stay away from it.  My t-100? Forget about it.  Its a death-trap.  Fwd is scary as hell too.  Far as I am concerned, if you HAVE to drive on ice, it had better be 4wd or at least awd.

yeah, dude, beware of the 'glazed donut' syndrome.  Can turn a fun day in the desert into a nightmare.

Well I'm getting 5 17" BF Goodrich tires from Coldblooded's dad. That shows you how long we have known each other. He is like my second dad. Hell he is. I just got to get some rims now.  ;) Thanks for all the ideas and I don't care if ya'll keep posting on this.  :D

Look on Ebay, Craigslist and (best of all) Tire Rack.  If nothing else, use Tire Rack to research sizing, price, etc.  Then use ebay to buy what you want for less.  :)

Ya I'm probably going to pick up the tires tomorrow to see what the exact rims I need to get. I'm probably going to get some cheap rims because I don't really care what they look like right now.

Post the exact tire size and I'll try to tell you what width of wheels will work.

Hey Maddog I'm not trying to be mean or anything so dont take this the wrong way, but do you think I'm stupid or something? I'm just asking because you act like I don't know what I am doing or anything. I like you and everything because your an awsome guy. One of the people I look up to about these type of things but jezz man you seem like I don't know anything. Like I said don't take this the wrong way. I know your just trying to help. I'm not saying not to post what you think or anything. It's just you seem like I know nothing about anything I post. I really hope there aren't any hard feelings about this.

If I may weigh in here term,

MD doesn't know you.  He sees you ask for help, he starts basic.  Hes just a really helpful dude.  I've talked to him alot and I get the sense often that hes just trying to feel out how much you know so as not to start out too basic or too advanced. i.e. Don't take it personal.  He's just trying to help.  ;)

Like I said don't take it the wrong way. I know he is VERY helpful. I know he is just trying to help and I appreciate it a lot. I wasn't trying to make it sound personal. Oh and BTW I don't mind you weigh in. Go ahead. I guess the point I made didn't come out clear. Maddog, I just hope you understand what I am trying to say. You are a great person and this clan needs more people like you. I just hope you understand what I meant.

LOL you just made me laugh. I don't know much about tiers and rims because I have alwys stuck with stock rims and the same type of tire that was on the vehicle as it came with. I know quite a bit about vehicles for my age thank you very much. This summer I get to rebuild two small block 350 and a small block 305. Fun fun
