Converting common demo to video
« on: September 27, 2010, 07:08:01 PM »

Steps to take...
-Record a demo on a server. (Whatever you want to make into a video)

-Set your quality settings in video card control panel to high (Anti Aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering, etc.) if you can if not it isn't necessary it just makes the outcome look better.

-Start Urban Terror, turn off full screen, and set it to a resolution in which you can see the entire window. Set all the settings to high and set cl_avimotionjpeg to 1 (set to 0 if you want it to produce an uncompressed file (video), which makes a huge file (video) but higher quality) and cl_aviframerate to 25. Bind video to F7 (just type "/bind video f7" and you made a bind) and stopvideo to F8 (do "/bind stopvideo f8" and its done). Set r_gamma to 1.8. Perferably use a compiled version of Urban Terror that does gamma correction, even when r_overbrightbits is 0 (will be publicly available starting at 4.1).

-Play back the demo, and use F7 and F8 to record the video0000.avi (the most the video can be is 2GB after that it starts another one).

-Load the video0000.avi in a video editor like Adobe Premiere and do editing (cutting/music/effects/intro) and export it as uncompressed (both audio and video) .avi with 25 frame rate and 800x600 resolution (red= optional), which created a 7GB .avi file from a 1.8GB file. Interleave audio every second and used max precision in the key framing options.

Cool tutorial :P

I would also recommend Nexu's Config which is a demo playback config that can be quite handy for making frag movies or just regular videos. You can slow down or speed up time by simply scrolling and change the resolution of the game and fps within the demo and just by clicking a button

It can be found here :

http://nexu.pwnz.org/gaming/urbanterror/cfg/nexumovie_config_v202beta.zip

Before you use this I would highly recommend making a back-up of your config

To use you only have to put it in your /q3ut4 folder and go ingame and type /exec nexumovie_v2.cfg in console.

I use this in all my movies :)

Here are it's capabilities

you cannot play UrT is 3rd person but you can spec someone in 3rd person thats how its done.

Look how people treat their inferiors, not their superiors.
